Preliminary Results of the Registration

Less than three days are left before the start of the Automated Trading Championship 2010. In a little while we all will be in a vehement fight of trade robots. However, not everyone will be able to take part in the competition. The reasons are the mistakes made while developing Expert Advisors and multiple registrations.

At the moment, only 76% of submitted Expert Advisors have successfully passed all tests. Others have been left behind the competition for various reasons. What are the difficulties that have prevented developers from submitting correct Expert Advisors for the Championship? What is the reason for failure of some of Expert Advisors? Let's take a detailed look into the causes of such deplorable result.

First of all, despite the multiple warnings, there are cases of multiple registrations. Unfortunately, some of the participants of the Championship, which have passed the automatic checks, want to win dishonestly. But their attempts to deceive the organizers of the Championship have led to the expected result - their registrations are cancelled. There are 19 of such Expert Advisors; however, they can try to participate in the Championship of the next year.

Secondly, trading errors have appeared to be the real problem for EA developers. That is the reason of screening out another 53 Expert Advisors. The problems are the same as at the previous Championships - Expert Advisors manage orders incorrectly, they don't check the amount of assets left on the account before making a trade operation, or make less than five trades during the test period. These errors are the reasons why almost half of Expert Advisors do not participate in the Championship.

Finally, 28 Experts Advisors are out of the competition due to the technical errors. They are - too long time of testing that exceeds 15 minutes and compilation errors. "Each computer is used for testing many Expert Advisors simultaneously - the juror of the Championship Stanislav Starikov said. - It means that if an Expert Advisor is written in a nonoptimal way, then its testing takes a long time, thus consuming more resources than the others. In our situation, this is unacceptable; that's why such Expert Advisors are out of the Championship!"

The high rate of screened out Expert Advisors as a result of various tests is a distinctive feature of this Championship. The ratio of such Expert Advisors to the accepted ones was lower in the competitions of the previous years. And, of course, the matter is the new MQL5 language and the new trading system - MetaTrader 5 . Developers need time to finally adapt to the language and new standards of writing Expert Advisors. We hope that the Automated Trading Championship 2010 will greatly facilitate the process of adapting to the new language for programming trading strategies.
