The Winners of the Automated Trading Championship 2010

[ru]

The tense battle between the Participants of the Automated Trading Championship 2010 is behind us, the fighting subsided and it's time to bring the final outcome of the competition. The authors of the most successful Expert Advisors of the Championships have already received the prizes from sponsors and are sharing their impressions of the competition.

The first place went to the Russian developer Boris Odintsov. Having appeared in the top ten already in the first week of the competition, Boris' Expert Advisor brought it to the finish and earned $77,000. For this successful performance, Boris gets the award for "First place in the Automated Trading Championship 2010" and $40,000 from Interbank FX LLC

Boris Odintsov

First and foremost, I want to thank the Organizers of the Automated Trading Championship 2010 (MetaQuotes Software Corp.) and its sponsors Interbank FX, LLC (IBFX), MIG BANK and Forex Capital Markets (FXCM). The 2010 Championship was particularly interesting, because we were first time using the MQL5 language and anyone could try their hand with the new MetaTrader 5 platform. In my opinion, this platform has great potential, and I'm looking forward to moving my real trading to its soon.

I am grateful to all participants of the Championship and am very glad that I have found new friends among the experienced developers of trading systems. Thanks to the participants of the Championship, common thoughts and ideas are being developed, on which future trading systems will be based. And with each new edition of the ATC, the mechanisms of automatic trading on Forex will be improved. I hope to see most of the old acquaintances in the next Championship. I am sure that preparations are already underway.

Another Russian participant Andrey Perfilov was the second. Until the end, his Expert Advisor had been stubbornly fighting for the first place and earned $62,000 during the Championship. Andrey gets the award for "Second place in the Automated Trading Championship 2010" and $25,000 from MIG Bank.

The Automated Trading Championship 2010 is over. My participation was very successful. Unfortunately, I am not a professional programmer - I'm working with the hardware, but I have always been interested in programming. I've been trading forex for over two years now, and I've tried different terminals, but finally decided on MetaTrader and now I'm using only it. The possibility to develop programs and Russian-language forums had the significant role in this decision. Both forums (MQL4 and MQL5) are on the speed dial of my browser. In manual trading I use modified indicators. In the automated trading, I'm interested in optimization. That's why I completely moved to MQL5: I'm attracted by its new possibilities for multicurrency testing and OOP.

It's the first time I'm participating in such a competition. I carefully read the rules, simplified the algorithm of my Expert Advisor to avoid errors, increased the risk within reasonable limits, and ... the rest you saw. I want to thank MetaQuotes Software Corp. for the good organization of the competition and, of course, special thanks to the project sponsors. In addition to the winner EA, I liked the open Expert Advisor of Andrey Voitenko. And so charming was the balance line of Dimitar Manov's EA! Besides, I noted a few more ideas.

The Championship was rather successful for me, although at the end of the competition there was a very tense situation, especially in the last week, when the market changed for EUR/USD. Until the last day it was impossible to predict the top three winners. Thanks to everyone who was supporting me.

I want to note an interesting coverage of the Championship: weekly statements, reports and interviews with participants. A portion of drama was added by the Jury's decision. May the new year bring all the participants and automated traders small spreads, rare requotes, large volumes and favorable trends. And I wish MetaQuotes Software prosperity! I hope it will keep showing new achievements. Good luck to everyone!

The third place went to the EA developer from France Ludwig Rota. In the final part of the competition, his martingale system outpaced other contenders for the third place and earned $51,000. Ludwig gets the award for "The third place in the Automated Trading Championship 2010" and $15,000 from Forex Capital Markets (FXCM). In addition, Ludwig gets the special prize from MIG Bank - a free trip to a Formula One race in 2011.

Ludwig Rota

Firstly I wish to thank the MetaQuotes team and all the sponsors for organizing the Championship as exciting. I congratulate Bobsley and Buter for their first and second places respectively. The third place was fought largely with other Expert Advisors, so I would like to congratulate them because they have shown good strategies too. In addition to this third place, I am also proud that my Expert Advisor wins the special prize offered by MIG Bank. It demonstrates that strategies with a simple martingail can give good performances with limited drawdown.

This first Championship based on MQL5 showed that this new language had been adopted by many developers. The value added by this change of MQL5 language, specifically the object-oriented, saves valuable time when designing new trading strategies. The next edition should attract even more participants with EAs even better. See you next year with newer Expert Advisors.

Once again we would like to thank our Sponsors - Interbank FX LLC, MIG Bank, Forex Capital Markets LLC (FXCM), the TRADERS' magazine Dow Jones & Co. information agency - for their help in organizing and conducting the Automated Trading Championship 2010.
