How to Participate in the Automated Trading Championship 2012

Automated Trading Championship 2012 is an exciting event for all keen on the automated trading. All Applicants are warmly welcome. Unfortunately, we often see that many Expert Advisor developers fail to complete all necessary preparations for some reason. But being an Applicant does not mean being a Participant!

Joining the competition is not as difficult as it sounds. Just complete a few simple steps and your Expert Advisor will get a real chance to earn real money for you. For your convenience, we have prepared step by step instructions on how to successfully register and fill in your personal data to join the Automated Trading Championship 2012.

Necessary Steps for Participation in the Automated Trading Championship 2012

From June 4, 2012, you can register to participate in the Automated Trading Championship 2012. Less than three months have left till the registration end. Of course, there is some time but not much. We suggest you fulfill all necessary formalities right after reading these instructions and spend remaining time adjusting your trading robot.

To participate in the Automated Trading Championship 2012, you should consistently pass a few simple steps.

It's all easy enough, as you can see. So, let's start from the beginning.

1. Registration

First of all, you need to register. This procedure is standard and easy enough. Choose your login, password and specify your email for confirmation. Created account will not only let you participate in the Championship, but also show you all the possibilities of MQL5.community services.

If you already have an account at MQL5.com, you simply need to log on. Besides, you may also log on via OpenID. You can learn more about this authentication system on our Forum.

Choose the most convenient way to log on and proceed to the next step.

2. Confirming Participation

It's all very simple. After you have logged on the Championship website, click Confirm participation.

After that, your MQL5.community account will be included in the list of candidates for participation in the Automated Trading Championship 2012. Now, let's move to the next step.

3. Filling Personal Data

After confirming participation, you will be immediately asked to fill in your personal data. We ask you to specify the following data:

• First Name

• Last Name

• Country

• City

• Postal ZIP code

• Exact home or registration address (business address is not accepted). Do not forget to specify a house and apartments number (if available)

• Phone. The Championship Organizers can contact you via the specified phone number to solve appearing issues, as well as in case of your victory

• The details of your passport or driving license or any other document or any other identifying document

All fields must be filled in. Please be attentive providing your information at this step. If you violate this requirement, you will lose the possibility to fight for the competition prizes.

You can get back to this stage at any time. To do this, enter your profile (use the profile link in the upper right corner), or click on Your details link or Submit Personal Details button. The Private section opens by default.

4. Uploading Files

After you have filled in you personal data, go to Files. Here you need to upload all the files required for the operation of your trading robot, specify its name and provide a brief description. In addition, you must specify the chart and timeframe, on which your competing Expert Advisor will be launched.

You can edit, delete and re-upload any of the above files up to the very end of the Registration. Also, when registering each Participant is given an account number, passwords (master and investor) and the address of the server. Using these data, you can test your Expert Advisor taking into account the trading conditions and restrictions accepted in the Automated Trading Championship 2012, which are described in the Rules.

5. Passing Verifications

You have successfully completed all previous stages. But that does not mean yet that your Expert Advisor will surely participate in the competition. Take a look at ATC 2012 main page. As you can see, two more conditions must be fulfilled: your personal data must be checked manually, while your Expert Advisor files must pass automatic verification. After some time, a moderator will check your personal data.

If a moderator has any questions concerning your personal data or your Expert Advisor files operation, you will be contacted via Discussion section of your profile. This section allows you to correspond with the moderators and view the technical reports on the pre-testing of Expert Advisors. Do not forget to visit this section: it is possible that your Expert Advisor does not meet the Rules and you will have to fix it.

The start of the automatic verifications of submitted Expert Advisors will be announced in special news on the Championship website and the Forum. Just be patient and stay tuned.

The sooner you fill in all necessary data and send your Expert Advisor, the more time you will have to fix possible errors. Please do not hold off until the last moment. As soon as all requirements are fulfilled, your Expert Advisor will be allowed to enter the competition.

As you can see, it is not so difficult to participate in the Automated Trading Championship 2012. All you need to do is develop an interesting trading strategy and implement it in MQL5 language properly.

Violations

We would like to remind about the rules violations once again. The number of the Championship Participants will be substantially smaller than the number of persons registered. All Expert Advisors must meet the technical requirements described in the Rules of the Automated Trading Championship 2012.

The experience of the previous Championships clearly shows that there is a great number of people willing to cheat. Here are the most common violations, which lead to the disqualification of the EA authors:

• Different Participants using the same Expert Advisor;

• Different Participants using the same Expert Advisor with different parameters;

• Different Participants using the same Expert Advisor with minor cosmetic changes;

• Participants using Expert Advisors written by other developers;

• Registration of one's relatives and/or friends;

• Providing false registration information;

• Registration using anonymous proxy servers.

Such violations would entail unambiguous disqualification of suspected Participants. There will be no discussions or private investigations of any case of disqualification. In past years, many Participants ignored these rules, believing themselves smarter than others, for which hundreds of registered Participants missed their chance to participate. Be wise and avoid such mistakes.

In addition:

• Any Participant admitted to the competition may be disqualified by reason of a fundamental change in the work of his Expert Advisor during the Championship.

• Each Expert Advisor must perform at least 5 conscious trades (i.e., independently open and close each position) for the entire period of the Championship. The Buy & Hold strategies are unacceptable.

• If an Expert Advisor is taking significant CPU resources to the detriment of the work of other Expert Advisors, this fact will also lead to disqualification. Qualification of Participants must satisfy the rules of resource efficient code writing.

The Automated Trading Championship is a competition of the traders who know how to trade in financial markets and are able to create a trading robot. Therefore, every participant should have the knowledge of the subject and be able to answer any question on the automated trading. Any suspicion of the substitution of a Participant may result in disqualification.
