Registration Has Closed!

Automated Trading Championship 2010 Registration has closed! We've been accepting applications for participation in the competition for about four months. During this time 1,726 people have registered on this site.

As of the moment, 284 Expert Advisors have been automatically checked. Besides personal details of authors were approved and these developers were allowed to participate in the Championship. This is 16% of total number of submitted applications.

Registration for Automated Trading Championship 2010

However, all other applications were not accepted for a number of reasons. 5 Expert Advisors successfully passed all tests, but their authors' personal details were not approved. And vice versa for the second group: personal details were approved, but developers didn't submit an Expert Advisor or it couldn't pass tests. Its 685 or 39% of the total number of applications. The third group (752 applications and 43%) contains those who didin't submit proper personal details and Expert Advisor. Because of all these violations we had to refuse to register them to the Automated Trading Championship 2010.

This year the number of accepted Expert Advisors is much less than the number of participants in ATC 2007 and 2008. "This is quite understandable, - Renat Fatkhullin, CEO of MetaQuotes Software Corp. says. - The MQL5 language is new and differs much from MQL4. Obviously developers need some time to learn it. However, experienced developers have successfully moved to the new language. I hope we'll have an interesting competition, despite the fact that relatively few robots will compete this time".

September 25, 2010 at 23:59 Moscow time registration to participate in the competition closed. We are not accepting Expert Advisors anymore. The system of automatic checks of submitted EAs has been stopped. No other applications to participate in the ATC 2010 will be accepted. We still have some time to check personal details and submitted Expert Advisors manually. Special checks will be performed to make sure there are no multiple registrations.

The Championship will start in 8 days. We hope to see a fair fight for the prize. May the best man win!

The peak of applications occurred at the end of Automated Trading Championship 2010 Registration period. Unfortunately at the same time we had problems with automatic testing of Expert Advisors, and all Expert Advisors need to be repeatedly tested in automatic mode. This is the reason why we decided to extend the Registration period till September 25, 2010.

Preliminary Results of the Registration

Preliminary Results of the Registration

Less than three days are left before the start of the Automated Trading Championship 2010. In a little while we all will be in a vehement strife of trade robots. However, not everyone will be able to take part in the competition. The reasons are the mistakes made while developing Expert Advisors and multiple registrations.

Why do you say 284 approved EAs here but 338 approved EAs on the main page?

My EA was accepted before the closing but I just found it got rejected. Quickly found out that it was actually a typo on a weight matrix but it is really unfair of misleading me into believing I was all set when there was plenty of time!

I  raise an objection to the error by ATC.tester :"profit is too small"

ATC RULES haven't say

EA which can't make profit in pre-testing , can't enter the  race.

Hi enivid,
enivid:

Our EA was uploaded for the first time about 5 minutes before the deadline last night. It was approved earlier this morning. I assume it accounts for one of those (n>284) && (n<=338)

I agree. EA can't make profit in pre-testing ,that not means it can't make great profit in Championship .

I think our EA have right to be  participants .

III.8 If the Expert Advisor's behavior during preliminary testing essentially differs from that during the Championship, the Expert Advisor will be disqualified.

You are right ! But, the Championship's  preliminary testing has a big problem : It chose a fixed period ( from2010.01.01 to  2010.08.01) , not Multiple periods ...

To comprehensive test EA's quality , Multiple periods tests is need....

Yes i completely agree that EA's should not be dis-qualified only because it did not make profit during a backtest with a fixed time of 2010.01.01 to  2010.08.01.

Because

1. Testing does differ from real trading.

2. Certain programming cannot be backtested correct while it does work in live in the same period.

3. Ea's that profit over decade of years can have periods that it looses.

4. My EA is made for the last 3 months of the year, and also optimized for several statistical conditions for this period by for instance exact timing and volatility, it is normal that it is not profitable in other periods.

For the research i did, i know my EA works perfect in the period where it is made for, but it is disqualified, all my effort for nothing just becase of this reason?.

I would like to ask the jury to overthink this, and allow some advisors that have been disqualified only because it was not profitable in pre-testing.

ATC team should have dedicated email/contact for the participants to clarify doubts. Now there is only this forum.

So how can I clarify my EA's status? It was rejected after the closing date but was passed before that (exact ex5 file), giving me false impression that everything was ok with my EA. There is no error but the second tester says it takes too long. I feel this is unfair criteria to be disqualified for. Now I'm helpless and frustated with the lack of transparency and the feeling of disappointment after months of hard work...

PS...can't the testers see that the reason for the long time taken is because MT5 tester is downloading data and NOT errors?
